Breakthrough Behavior CEO Maegen Pierce Named to Behavioral Health Center of Excellence Commission

The group comprises experts from seven different organization types and helps uphold the national standards for effective applied behavior analysis organizations

Breakthrough Behavior Chief Executive Officer Maegen Pierce has been named to American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Commission for the Behavioral Health Center of Excellence (BHCOE). The commission is tasked with documenting consensus on the national standards and guidelines for effective applied behavior analysis (ABA) organizations.

“I am honored to be a part of such an important initiative,” said Maegen. “We firmly believe in accreditation, the value it presents to providers and funders, and ultimately the accountability it brings to protecting the families we serve. The work of this commission will bring a meaningful impact to the autism service provider community, and I am excited join this effort.”

The commission comprises experts from seven different organization types—including private sector, private and public payor, state association, parent advocates, trade association and academic. Commission individuals have expertise in a variety of specific behavior analytic disciplines, as well as general expertise in applied behavior analysis research, healthcare, measurement science, statistics, law and policy. The commission is scheduled to meet twice in October 2020 to discuss documentation and accreditation standards.

The BHCOE is an international accrediting body created to meet accreditation needs specific to the delivery of behavior analysis. The organization develops and measures voluntary consensus standards for autism and ABA service providers. Breakthrough Behavior was named an accredited provider by the Behavior Health Center of Excellent (BHCOE) in January 2020.
