The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) is the national professional, scientific, and credentialing association for 218,000 members and affiliates who are audiologists; speech-language pathologists; speech, language, and hearing scientists; audiology and speech-language pathology support personnel; and students
The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) has granted Breakthrough Behavior Assistant Director of Speech Language Pathology Ryan Hoesten with the Award for Continuing Education (ACE). Speech language pathologists and audiologists meet the requirements of the ACE by earning seven ASHA continuing education units (CEUs), equivalent to 70 contact hours in a 36-month period.
“I am honored to receive this ACE recognition by ASHA,” said Ryan. “I am thankful for my Breakthrough Behavior clients, colleagues and leadership, and am grateful to share the same passion for continuing education and evidence-based practice.”
ASHA encourages professionals to continue learning throughout their professional career and to maintain current knowledge and skills. Ryan began his work at the University of Central Florida Center for Autism & Related Disabilities (UCF-CARD), then served as a speech-language pathologist at Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care (PPEC) centers where he was also a supervisor for graduate-level student clinicians.
“This is an incredible achievement,” said Breakthrough Behavior CEO Maegen Pierce. “I am extraordinarily proud to work alongside Ryan and applaud his continued growth in the field of speech language pathology. He and his team are constantly pursuing clinical excellence.”
Ryan received a master’s degree in communication sciences and disorders from the University of Central Florida and he has nearly ten years of experience working with individuals with autism and developmental disabilities. He has contributed to the development and execution of social skills groups and summer programs, such as Breakthrough Behavior’s Camp InterACTION!
